Attention jobseekers who want to work in Japan! Job vacancies in Japan will be soon open to Filipino applicants.
The plan of Japan to hire Filipino workers was first mentioned by Japanese Ambassador Koji Haneda in his speech last October 2018 during the 44th Philippine Business Conference.
Since then, Japanese officials have meet with Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) to launch the new employment track to be called “Specified Skilled Worker Visa”.
Under the new employment track, there is a possibility that workers may bring their families and have immigrant status.

- Job contract to work in Japan up to 5 years
- Employment for more than 5 years with possibility to bring family and apply as immigrants.

- Construction
- Agriculture
- Manufacture of food and beverages
- Accommodation industry
- Building cleaning management
- Machine parts and tooling
- Industrial machinery
- Fishery and aquaculture
- Electric, electronics and information
- Aviation industry
- Automobile repair and maintenance
- Shipbuilding and ship machinery
To qualify for the Specified Skilled Worker Visa, a foreign applicant must pass these requirements
- Language Proficiency Exam
- Skills Test
The new Worker Visa is different from the Technical Internship Training Program (TITP) where applicants work in Japan as trainee. Under the TITP, applicants may work in Japan up to 5 years only. With the implementation of the new type of visa, trainees under TITP may be moved to Full Time Worker.
A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) is set to be signed by POEA and Japan in the next months for the implementation of the Specified Skill Worker Visa on April 2019.
The 345,000 Japan job opening was also mentioned in the ABS-CBN news TV Patrol January 18, 2019.
As of now, there is no set of guidelines yet on how the new Japan job hiring will be conducted.
